The Art of the Full Stop

I've been trying to teach my oldest how to ride a bike for YEARS to no avail. Balance bikes, training wheels, grassy hills, you name it. He even took three months of bike lessons at school—nothing worked.

It turns out that we were all teaching him how to ride...when what he really needed to learn was how to stop. Hand breaks. Foot taps. And how to lightly pop off the seat and plant his feet on the ground when he needs to come to a full halt.

One hour after learning to break, he's zooming around Brooklyn like he's on the Tour de France.

He still can't pedal (that's next week). But he rode a mile! All by himself.

I think I'm supposed to sum this up for you and apply it to something work or life-lesson-related so that you clearly understand why I'm sharing this so you can apply it to your own life.

But you know what?

It's summer up here in the northern hemisphere.

It's nice out.

And I'm going for a bike ride.

I'll just leave this right here and let you glean what you need.
